Toffee!

(A Great Pyrenees)

(Toffee is NOT a Livestock Guardian)

Meet Toffee, a beautiful Great Pyrenees who is a very sweet and affectionate girl.  At about a year and half old, she is vibrant and happy, and she's enjoying her new life with her new found friends.

Toffee and her brother Casanova came to us in pitiful condition due to neglect. Their coats were in very poor shape, and they were both emaciated.  We are in the process of fattening them up, however, and they are definitely enjoying dinner! Toffee is also enjoying hugs and attention, and she relishes spending time with her humans.  She'll even smile at you to show you how happy she is!

Toffee is a very affectionate girl who is constantly providing those she loves with kisses and snuggles.  She loves to lay in your lap, snuggle her head into you, and roll over on her back to let you scratch her belly.  In fact, I think that's her favorite position because she'll do it, look at you with a huge, silly grin, and sop that belly rub right up!  Of course you have to oblige since she's so adorable. On her first veterinary visit she rolled into the lap of the technician and kissed all over her and the vet!

Toffee does well with other dogs, but she does try to be the alpha dog with them, so another dominant dog would not be best in her new home.  She would do best with a male.  However, she does enjoy playing and romping around the yard with the other dogs, and she has a lot of buddies. They have a great time together!  She is also good with cats and would love to play with them, as well, but they think she's an overgrown goofball.

Toffee's only downfall is that she came to us food aggressive.  We have been working diligently with her and have made good progress.  She was apparently so starved that she felt she had to protect any food placed in front of her.  Since her arrival she has mellowed out, but it is something that her adoptive parents would need to be aware of, and she cannot be placed with children as a result.  An experienced owner would also be best.

Toffee would love to have her very own family to dote on her daily. Although she had to work through the food protection, she still has a very kind heart and an extreme amount of love. If given the chance, she will show you how much she enjoys your company and provide you with an overabundance of love!
