How does such a thing happen to such a kind heart?  We can't begin to fathom, but we do know that the moment we saw her picture, we had to help.  Miss Maleah has endured some long, painful days...however, you'd be shocked at her spirit and strong will.  Maleah is a fighter; a warrior; a strong, beautiful Great Pyrenees, giving kisses and wagging her tail despite it all.

Maleah has mange, yeast, a skin infection, ear infections, raw paws, kennel cough, intestinal parasites, and she's emaciated, weighing 48lbs at about a year old...far, far from the size of normal, healthy year old Great Pyrenees.  These pictures are how she looked the day she came into rescue.  With the help of some kind fellow animal lovers and a day of travel, we were able to get her to our rescue and to the veterinarian...a big day for Miss Maleah!  While at the doctor, she trotted around the clinic, wagged her tail, ate lots of treats and looked for more.  She was curious, happy, and enjoying her visit, glad to receive affection and care from the staff.  She lit up and her beauty shone through.  What an amazing girl...to look at the bright side of things, while at her worst, is a trait that we all wish to embrace.

Maleah will need a lot of care and attention, but we are more than happy to provide it for her...she's well worth it.  If you could see her smile, you'd understand why.  This girl deserves a 2nd chance, and we are going to give it to her.

We named her Maleah because of it's meaning: "Unique Little Girl/Beautiful Young Woman"  We look at her in this condition and see her beauty, regardless of her appearance.  We know that during the healing process, her beauty will continue to flourish.  We look forward to watching her grow and prosper, and look forward to the day that she's free of illness.  We know that without doubt, in return for the love and medical care she'll receive, she'll provide someone with a devoted heart and a lifetime of happiness.

**If you would like to contribute to the medical care of Miss Maleah, please visit our donation page.  Any assistance is more than appreciated, and we will be happy to keep you updated of her progress!**
